Following instructions

Following instructions shouldn't be that hard? I read all these books on drawing, listen to peoples talks etc, review their art and so forth,  but sometimes my hand just doesn't want to follow what my brain is saying.
I like the idea of doing warm up drawing first, I like the idea of practice swings at golf but do I do any of these things to get my brain and body in sync? Nah. I'm a rebel (with a little r).

Is it an obedience thing, non conforming to authority, is it the belief that I know better?

Well they're a little of what the experts suggest (not just me personally). One interesting study talked about how experienced pilots listened and took direction better than junior pilots. it was a research study about reactions to a simulated dangerous situation and suggestions from air traffic control. The experienced pilots took the advice without a lot of thought.  It was suggested that the pilots experience had shown that usually the advice offered was correct, as they may well have challenged the advice as less experienced and learnt better.  The less experienced pilots tended to dissect the advice and self assess before deciding what to do. Often taking longer and placing themselves and their planes in danger.

Hence I am drawing up a checklist for Pearl, something suggested by a lot of other caravaners. It's a little like a pilot does before takeoff and checking their aeroplane. The list helps to prevent me from driving off without/with items/down that I may damage as we drive off, costing money and time. I used to have 11 things on the old van that I had memorised. Now I have a few more! Lets face it Pearl has a few different attachments than old Harriet.(our old van).

And I will take more practice swings on the golf course, and I will do some warm up sketches before drawing what I want to focus on.
